Douglas David Ready serves as Professor of Education and Public Policy and Director of the Consortium for Policy Research in Education (CPRE) at Teachers College, Columbia University. His academic home is within the Graduate School of Education, Health & Psychology, specifically in the Department of Education Policy & Social Analysis. Ready's research explores the complex interplay between education policy, social policy, and educational equity, with particular attention to how contemporary policies affect socio-demographic disparities in student opportunities and outcomes.
Ready's scholarly interests focus on educational equity, school segregation, early childhood education policy, and the impact of school organization on student outcomes. His work examines how policies shape educational opportunities across racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic lines, with recent studies analyzing New York City's Pre-K for All program, virtual tutoring interventions, and the effects of school segregation on young children. Ready has developed expertise in both qualitative and quantitative research methods, often employing large-scale datasets to examine policy impacts.

Ready's educational background includes a Ph.D. in Educational Foundations (Sociology) and Public Policy from the University of Michigan, an M.Ed. in Social Foundations of Education from the University of Virginia, an M.M. from the University of Rochester, and a B.M.Ed. from Ohio State University. His interdisciplinary training bridges education, sociology, and public policy, informing his comprehensive approach to educational research.
