Dorshele Stewart is an Associate Professor in the Department of History at Ball State University, within the College of Sciences and Humanities.
- She earned a BS from Ball State University in 1998
- Pursued a MS in elementary education and EdD in curriculum studies at Indiana University-Bloomington
Stewart's research focuses on teacher education, professional development, and urban education, particularly in elementary social studies instruction. She teaches SS 397 Teaching Social Studies in the Elementary Schools and serves as the social studies methods teacher for Ball State's Urban Semester and Immersive Learning Project - Schools within the Context of the Community (SCC) programs. Her work emphasizes collaborative approaches to improving teaching practice through her dissertation Courageous Conversations: A Teacher Collaboration Exploring Teaching, Thought, and Practice and curriculum development for ISTEP summer school.
