Katherine Kapustka is an Associate Professor and Associate Dean for Curriculum, Programs, and Academic Affairs at DePaul University’s College of Education. She works within the Department of Teacher Education, Kinesiology and Educational Studies, focusing on elementary education.

Her research focuses on differentiated instruction and gifted education, emphasizing the integration of social-emotional learning with literacy in K-3 classrooms. She uses picture books to address diverse learners and urban education contexts.
Kapustka’s 2022 publication explores literacy education and SEL through picture books, reflecting her interest in curriculum development that aligns with differentiated instruction and classroom assessment strategies.
She teaches courses such as Reading/Language Arts in the Intermediate & Middle Grades, Assessment in the Elementary Classrooms, and Urban Education Residency, which highlight her commitment to practical pedagogy and equitable education.
