معرفی
Dorothy Ndwiga is a Senior Lecturer in Nursing at the School of Nursing, Midwifery and Paramedicine, part of the Faculty of Health Sciences. Her research focuses on public health challenges in marginalized communities, particularly addressing diabetes prevention, mental health in healthcare settings, and cultural barriers in healthcare access. She has led community-based participatory projects targeting Samoan communities in Sydney, such as the Le Taeao Afua diabetes prevention program, which leverages church networks for health promotion.
Her work emphasizes the intersection of culture and healthcare, as seen in studies exploring the 'cultural chasm' between healthcare providers and Samoan women regarding gestational diabetes management. Ndwiga has also contributed to global analyses of healthcare workers' mental and physical health impacts during the COVID-19 pandemic through meta-reviews and umbrella studies.
Her publications span peer-reviewed journals and book chapters, including contributions to Issues in Mental Health Nursing, International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health, and Diabetes Research and Clinical Practice. Her research methodologies prioritize participatory frameworks to ensure community engagement in intervention design.
