Dawn Cameron is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Stirling, within the School of Health and Life Sciences. She holds dual roles as a registered nurse/midwife with clinical expertise in community nursing, midwifery, and public health initiatives, and as an academic leader specializing in diabetes research, maternal health, and nursing education. Her leadership roles include International Lead (establishing global academic partnerships) and Lead Midwife in Education (LME).
Research Focus: Dr. Cameron’s work centers on gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM), diabetes prevention, and nursing/midwifery education. Notable projects include systematic reviews on GDM prevalence, CSO-funded diabetes prevention studies, and cross-country analyses of nursing students’ health behaviors. She contributes to Scottish Government initiatives via the NMAP group’s research on advanced midwifery roles.
Teaching & Leadership: She teaches behavior change theories, diabetes management, and research methods for healthcare professionals. She led Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) approvals for undergraduate and postgraduate programs and participated in institutional academic reviews.
Collaborations: Her international collaborations span Australia (Queensland partnerships) and multiple countries (e.g., pandemic-related academic studies). Research outputs address both clinical practice improvements and academic workforce challenges.
