Prof. Dorothea Mink is a Professor of Fashion Design and Experimental Design at the Bremen University of the Arts (Hochschule für Künste Bremen), part of the Art and Design Department. She holds a Diplom in Fashion Design from Hamburg University of Applied Sciences. Her career includes roles at Miss Britt, Olsen, Wolfgang Joop, and Jil Sander, followed by academic appointments at Hamburg University of Applied Sciences and Hannover University of Applied Sciences and Arts before joining Bremen in 2002.
Her research focuses on couture history (e.g., Charles James’s work), digital fashion production, and sustainable materials. Notable publications include Charles James – The Couture Secrets of Shape (2019) and the Breathe series (2017–present). She received the ADC Bronze Award in 2014 for Untragbar.
Prof. Mink actively participates in university governance, holding roles such as Women’s Representative, Vice Dean, and member of the Academic Senate. She also serves as a reviewer for DAAD scholarships and ACQUIN quality assurance. Her teaching emphasizes practical design processes, material innovation, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Her projects include the Neo.Fashion graduate showcases and explorations of digital design techniques. Recent events include a 2019 book talk in Milan and participation in the 2019 Berlin Neo.Fashion Graduate Show.
