Hans de Foer

Hans de Foer is a Professor at the Institut Français de la Mode, where he has directed key academic programmes since 2012. He led the Postgraduate Programme in Fashion Design (2012-2020) and Master in Fashion Design (specializing in Garment, Accessory & Image), and currently oversees Craftmanship programmes following IFM's 2020 merger with École de la Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne.

Graduating from Antwerp's Royal Academy of Fine Arts, his industry background spans high-end ready-to-wear and couture design for Jean-Charles De Castelbajac, André Courrèges, Jean-Paul Gaultier, and Azzedine Alaïa, plus creative directorship for mid-range fashion brands where he managed international multidisciplinary teams.

His academic focus centers on Fashion Design pedagogy, Couture techniques, Ready-to-Wear production, and Craftsmanship preservation, bridging industry practice with educational frameworks through IFM's programmes and collaborations with institutions including EnsAD, Ensci, and Esmod.

Professor de Foer's leadership integrates historical couture traditions with contemporary design education across IFM's merged structure, emphasizing hands-on technical mastery while mentoring emerging talent in garment construction and accessory design through structured pedagogical systems.
