Dorota Grubba-Thiede

Dorota Grubba-Thiede is a Lecturer at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk, where she works in the Department of Art History and Theory. She is an art historian, critic, and curator with expertise in modern and contemporary art, particularly sculpture.

Her research focuses on interdisciplinary approaches to contemporary art, including its social contexts and dissemination. She has curated exhibitions featuring artists like Stanisław Horno-Popławski and Magdalena Abakanowicz, emphasizing opportunities for young artists.

Her notable publication The Figurative Trend in Post-War Polish Sculpture (2016) explores trends in Polish sculpture post-1945. She contributes to art journals such as EXIT, Konteksty, and Rocznik Rzeźby Polskiej.

Grubba-Thiede collaborates with the Polish Institute of World Art Studies and AICA International + Polish Section. She initiated the lecture series 'Forms in the Areas of Meaning – Social Contexts of Contemporary Sculpture' (2014–2015) at the City Culture Institute in Gdańsk.
