Doris Fischer

Prof. Dr. Doris Fischer holds the Chair of China Business and Economics at the University of Würzburg (since 2012) and serves as Vice President for Internationalisation and Alumni since 2021. She earned her PhD in Economics from the University of Giessen after studying Business Administration and Chinese Studies in Hamburg and Wuhan. Her research focuses on China’s industrial policies, energy transition strategies, and the social credit system. Current projects include DFG-funded studies on renewable energy governance (LoSAM) and the bidt-funded analysis of the social credit system’s global impacts.

Her academic career includes roles as assistant professor at Duisburg University, senior economist at the German Development Institute (Bonn), and guest professorships at Seikei University (Tokyo) and Freie Universität Berlin. She coordinates major international initiatives like the German-Sino Innovation Platform and chairs academic associations such as the German Association for Asian Studies (DGA).
