Dorian Haskard

Professor Dorian Haskard is a Professor of Rheumatology at the National Heart and Lung Institute, Faculty of Medicine, Imperial College London, holding a personal chair since 1995. His institutional affiliations include the CDT in Chemical Biology, Immuno-Pathology Network, Institute of Chemical Biology, Vascular Science Network, and Vasculitis Centre.

Professor Haskard's research centers on vascular pathophysiology with emphasis on inflammatory mechanisms in atherosclerosis and thrombosis. His laboratory investigates macrophage and endothelial cell gene expression (particularly post-transcriptional RNA regulation) and the role of antibodies/complement in vascular inflammation, aiming to develop targeted diagnostics and therapies for cardiovascular and rheumatological conditions.

His scientific recognition includes:

• Wellcome Trust Senior Clinical Fellowship (1987)
• Election as Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences (2001)

He has mentored 7 post-doctoral researchers and 45 PhD students, alongside numerous MSc, MRes, and BSc candidates. His leadership includes Deputy Directorship of the BHF Centre of Research Excellence (2008-2017) and direction of the Imperial College Science in Medicine School Teams prize since 2024. He maintains active roles in national committees including the National Anti-Doping Panel.

His laboratory continues to drive translational research in vascular immunology through networks like the Vasculitis Centre and Institute of Chemical Biology.
