Dr. Donald Gagnon is a Professor of Theatre Arts and English at Western Connecticut State University (WCSU), specializing in Theatre History, Intro to Drama, and Senior Portfolio. He holds a dual appointment across disciplines and contributes to both academic and creative sectors of the university.
- B.S. in Public Relations, University of Florida
- M.A. in English, University of Central Florida
- Ph.D. in English/Literature (Modern American and British Drama), University of South Florida
His research spans African American drama, LGBTQ+ drama, musical theatre, and political dimensions of theatrical works. He has focused on intersections of identity, culture, and stagecraft in his publications and presentations.
Dr. Gagnon received the WCSU Provost’s Award for Teaching and serves as a respondent for the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival. He is currently editing an academic anthology exploring the politics of Oscar Hammerstein II.
