Seancolin Hankins serves as a Technical Instructor in the Drama department at Bennington College, a position he has held since Spring 2019. His expertise spans scenic design, construction, and painting, emphasizing resourceful material use and integrated production workflows from concept to execution.
His academic credentials include a B.A. in Technical Theatre from King's College and an MFA in Scenic Design from Mason Gross School of the Arts, Rutgers University. During his graduate studies, he trained at London's Globe Theatre under Jenny Tiramani and Tim Carroll, and studied scenic artistry with Peter Miller, Rachel Keebler, and Diane Fargo.
Hankins' professional focus centers on practical theatrical production, with specialization in scenic painting techniques and property design. His work integrates historical stagecraft methods with contemporary resource efficiency, developed through hands-on experience across diverse performance spaces including black box theaters and festival residencies.
With over 75 productions nationwide, he served three years as Head of Design and Production at Amphibian Stage Productions (Fort Worth), designing works like Lonely Planet and Cyrano, and spent three summers as charge scenic artist at Williamstown Theatre Festival. His teaching includes recurring courses such as "Intro to Scene Painting" and "Mad Props: Theatrical Property Design and Construction" across multiple semesters through Spring 2026.
