Dr. Donald Bruce Ross III serves as an Associate Professor in the Family Sciences Department at the Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture, Food and Environment, University of Kentucky. He also holds dual leadership roles as Program Director for the Family Financial Counseling undergraduate major and the Family Financial Therapy Graduate Certificate program. With credentials as an Accredited Financial Counselor® and Certified Financial Therapist™, Dr. Ross bridges financial counseling and therapeutic practices to enhance family well-being through a holistic approach.
Dr. Ross earned his academic credentials through:
- Ph.D. in Human Development and Family Science with emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from University of Georgia (2017)
- M.S. in Couples and Family Therapy from University of Maryland (2012)
- B.S. in Psychology with Research and Philosophy from Vanderbilt University (2010)
His research program centers on personal and family financial well-being through the systemic practice of financial therapy. Key areas include analyzing relationship dynamics around money from three perspectives: inter- and intra-personal family dynamics associated with resilience to financial strain, best practices in financial counseling and therapy, and intergenerational patterns of family financial socialization across diverse populations.
