Nathan Wood serves as Associate Professor and Couple and Family Therapy Program Director at the University of Kentucky's Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture, Food and Environment within the Department of Human Development and Family Science. His work spans clinical practice, graduate supervision, and research in marriage and family therapy.
His educational background includes:
- Ph.D. in Marriage and Family Therapy from Brigham Young University (2004)
- M.S. in Marriage and Family Therapy from Brigham Young University (2000)
- B.S. in Psychology from Utah State University (1998)
Dr. Wood's research investigates attachment dynamics in couples, relational health impacts on behavioral outcomes, and therapeutic intervention efficacy in healthcare systems. He pioneers spatial statistics applications in family data analysis, bridging quantitative methods with clinical practice. His clinical expertise encompasses marriage counseling, trauma recovery for abuse survivors, domestic violence cases, and eating disorder treatment.
As an educator, he directs the Couple and Family Therapy program and teaches core courses including FAM 640 (DSM applications in MFT), FAM 654 (Life Course Family Perspectives), FAM 686 (Therapy Theory and Methods), and FAM 787 (Supervised Clinical Practice). He previously held leadership roles in the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy as Utah Division legislative chair, president-elect, and president.
