Dr. Megan McCoy is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Personal Financial Planning at Kansas State University (KSU), part of the College of Health and Human Sciences. She holds a Ph.D. in Human Development and Family Science from the University of Georgia, with a focus on Marriage and Family Therapy. Her academic roles include teaching at undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels, specializing in financial well-being, financial therapy, and couple dynamics around finances. She also serves as a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC®), and Certified Financial Therapist™.

Notably, her research has been recognized with awards from the National Council of Family Relations and the Financial Therapy Association.
Her articles frequently address trust-building in financial planning, the impact of financial anxiety, and cross-cultural financial behaviors. Recent work examines technology’s role in client engagement and post-pandemic financial resilience.
