Don Tosh

Dr. Don Tosh is a distinguished Professor of Mathematics at Evangel University, where he has taught since 1972, serving under three of the university's four presidents. He is a dedicated educator who has made significant contributions to the Department of Natural & Applied Sciences and the broader academic community.

Dr. Tosh's educational background includes a B.S. in Mathematics from the University of Guelph, an M.S. in Pure Mathematics from the University of Alberta, and a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics (Statistics) from the University of Alberta.

Specializing in mathematics education and statistics, Dr. Tosh has demonstrated exceptional dedication to undergraduate mathematics education. His research interests span pure mathematics, applied mathematics, and statistics, with a particular focus on engaging undergraduate students in mathematical research through Kappa Mu Epsilon. He has mentored numerous students who have presented papers at KME meetings and published in The Pentagon, KME's national magazine.

Dr. Tosh has received several prestigious awards recognizing his contributions to mathematics education:

• E.M. & Estella Clark Award for Excellence in Teaching, Scholarship and Service (2019)
• KME George Mach Distinguished Service Award (2011)
• McKee Tosh Outstanding Chapter Award (named in his honor)

Throughout his career, Dr. Tosh has advised many students who have gone on to pursue careers in research, education, engineering, and computer technology. He served as chair of the Natural and Applied Sciences Department from 1994-2001 and has been instrumental in developing the university's mathematics program.

Dr. Tosh has been the club sponsor and corresponding secretary for Evangel's chapter of Kappa Mu Epsilon for over 30 years, holding various national leadership positions including National President for four years. His work with KME has significantly contributed to undergraduate mathematics research opportunities at Evangel and nationally.
