Corbett Redden

Corbett Redden is an Assistant Professor of Mathematics in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Long Island University (LIU) Post. He also serves as the Graduate Director for the Mathematics Department and oversees the undergraduate math/physics tutoring lab. He is the faculty sponsor for the Kappa Mu Epsilon (KME) mathematics honor society chapter at LIU Post.

Dr. Redden earned his B.A. from Rice University, followed by an M.S. and Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Notre Dame. He held postdoctoral positions at Stony Brook University and Michigan State University, and conducted research at the Hausdorff Institute for Mathematics and the Max Planck Institute for Mathematics in Bonn, Germany.

His research lies at the intersection of algebraic topology and differential geometry, with a focus on equivariant cohomology, differential cocycles, string structures, and elliptic cohomology. He studies geometric spaces through the lens of symmetry and global qualitative properties. His recent publications explore connections in principal bundles, trivializations of differential cocycles, and the interplay between topology and geometry in mathematical physics.

The trends in his recent articles (2011–2017) reflect a deep engagement with advanced topics in geometric topology and cohomology theories. His work bridges abstract algebraic structures with differential geometric constructions, particularly in the context of symmetries and higher structures such as string bundles. Dr. Redden actively supervises student research, particularly through Oral Presentation projects, and contributes to academic leadership within the mathematics department. He plays a key role in mentoring undergraduates and fostering a research-oriented environment through the KME honor society and tutoring initiatives.
