Don Lucca is a Regents Professor and Herrington Chair in Advanced Materials at the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Oklahoma State University. He holds appointments in the College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology. His academic career includes leadership roles and prestigious recognitions. Education: Ph.D. (Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, 1982), M.S.E. (Princeton University, 1979), B.S. (Cornell University, 1976).
Research interests focus on surface mechanics, nanomechanical properties, ion-solid interactions, precision engineering, and ultraprecision manufacturing. His work bridges materials science and advanced manufacturing techniques, with applications in nanotechnology and surface engineering.
Award highlights include the Frederick W. Taylor Research Medal (2014), Honorary Doctorate (Universität Bremen, 2005), and Fellowships with CIRP and ASME. He teaches courses like MAE 6133 Surface Mechanics and MAE 5153 Precision Engineering.
