I. S. Jawahir

I. S. Jawahir is a Professor and James F. Hardymon Chair in Manufacturing Systems at the University of Kentucky's Department of Mechanical Engineering. He directs the Institute for Sustainable Manufacturing (ISM) within the College of Engineering. His research focuses on predictive modeling, sustainable manufacturing processes, and surface integrity optimization. He holds a Ph.D. in Manufacturing Engineering from the University of New South Wales and an M.S. from P.F. University, Moscow.

Key research areas include cryogenic machining, additive manufacturing quality control, and circular economy frameworks. His work emphasizes reducing environmental impact through advanced cooling/lubrication strategies and material selection. He is a Fellow of CIRP, SME, and ASME.
