Dominic Egli serves as a Lecturer at Kalaidos University of Applied Sciences, teaching Drums in Jazz & Popular Music, Drums didactics, and Band workshop. He is fluent in German, English, and French, facilitating instruction across multiple linguistic contexts within the Swiss academic environment.
His research and professional interests center around jazz performance, with particular emphasis on drumming techniques, music education methodologies, and cross-cultural musical exchanges. Egli has developed significant expertise in African jazz influences, evident through his extensive collaborations with South African musicians and performances at international jazz festivals including the Cape Town International Jazz Festival and Kathmandu Jazz Festival.
Egli leads the band PLURISM, which has released albums such as 'Farewell, Feya' and 'Umhlangano,' touring extensively throughout Europe, South Africa, and Nepal. His performance history shows regular appearances at prestigious venues including Bird's Eye Jazzclub in Basel, Jazzclub Moods in Zurich, and international stages across Germany, France, and South Africa.
As an active performer, Egli collaborates with notable musicians including Feya Faku (trumpet), Mthunzi Mvubu (alto saxophone), Sisonke Xonti (tenor saxophone), and Raffaele Bossard (upright bass). He also participates in other ensembles such as Mats-Up, Roberto Bossard New Group, and Joe Haider ensembles, demonstrating versatility across various jazz configurations.
