Dieter Declercq is a Lecturer in Medical Humanities at the University of Glasgow, affiliated with the College of Arts & Humanities and the Department of Theatre, Film & Television Studies. He holds interdisciplinary degrees in Literature, Linguistics, Philosophy, and Film Studies, along with certifications in Counselling.
His research explores intersections between arts, humanities, and health, focusing on narrative medicine, satire as a mental health resource, and comedy-based interventions. Notable projects include developing stand-up comedy workshops for eating disorder recovery and creating the MAPL® play innovation toolkit.
Declercq leads cross-college initiatives in narrative medicine and co-hosts the 'Conversations about Arts, Humanities and Health' podcast series. He has secured multiple grants including AHRC Impact Accelerator Awards and BA/Leverhulme funding.
