Dr. Diego Celi is an Ecuadorian jazz guitarist, composer, and academic with a multifaceted career spanning performance, research, and education. He currently serves as Programme Leader for the Diploma in Music at LASALLE College of the Arts. Prior to this, he held a 18-year tenure as Full Professor at Universidad San Francisco de Quito, where he occupied leadership roles including Dean of the College of Music.

His research focuses on post-tonal and modal jazz harmony, jazz counterpoint, and pedagogical methodologies for jazz guitar. He has pioneered the application of synthetic scales in jazz education and explored polymodal integration in composition. His work bridges traditional jazz theory with contemporary techniques, emphasizing injury prevention in guitarists.
Dr. Celi's publications include peer-reviewed articles on jazz theory, a book on guitar scales and chords, and presentations at major conferences like the Jazz Education Network Conference and International Jazz Composers’ Symposium. His 2024 Google Scholar article on jazz guitar fingering approaches highlights practical techniques for harmonic navigation.
