Didem Özkul

Dr. Didem Özkul is a Research Officer at the London School of Economics (LSE), affiliated with the Department of Media and Communications. She holds an honorary associate professorship at University College London (UCL) and co-edits the Routledge Series in Mobile Communication. Her work focuses on the societal implications of emerging digital technologies, including privacy, surveillance, and AI-human interaction. She has held academic roles at institutions such as Bilkent University (Turkey), Karlstad University (Sweden), and University College London (UK).

Research Interests: Özkul explores mobile communication, geolocation technologies, sensor-mediated communication, and the ethical dimensions of machine learning. Her recent work emphasizes AI’s impact on human agency and social mobilities.
