Prof. Dick Ettema is a Professor of Urban Accessibility and Social Inclusion at Utrecht University's Department of Human Geography and Spatial Planning. He holds the chair in Urban Accessibility and Social Inclusion, focusing on how demographic, economic, societal, and technological changes affect urban accessibility, travel behavior, health, social inclusion, and sustainability. His work addresses theoretical models of accessibility, equity implications, and innovations like Mobility as a Service and bicycle-sharing systems.
Education:
- PhD in Activity Travel Demand Modelling (1996), Eindhoven University of Technology
- Architecture and Spatial Planning studies at Eindhoven University of Technology
Research Themes: Applied Data Science, Dynamics of Youth (DoY), Pathways to Sustainability (PtS), and Sport and Society. Current projects include CISE (Calibrating Inclusive Sports Encounters), MOBIMON (Mobility and Inclusion Monitor), and EQUIMOB (Equitable Mobility in India/Bangladesh).
