Janet Veldstra is an Assistant Professor at the University of Groningen's Faculty of Behavioural and Social Sciences, Department of Clinical & Developmental Neuropsychology. Her work focuses on traffic psychology, sustainable mobility, and the societal impacts of transportation innovations. She leads multidisciplinary projects like MOCOLODO (mobility post-lockdown sustainability) and SMiLES (logistics sustainability). Funded by NWO, ZonMW, and EU Horizon 2020, her research explores automated vehicle acceptance, medication effects on driving, and climate change mitigation strategies. She advises PhD students on mobility behavior and pharmacology-related traffic safety. Veldstra collaborates with 18+ industry partners and government bodies, contributing to urban mobility policy through the Urban Mobility Observatory (UMO). Her expertise spans behavioral interventions for sustainable transport and human factors in emerging technologies.
