Diane Ifkovic serves as an Adjunct Professor in the Fire Science and Professional Studies department within the Henry C. Lee College of Criminal Justice and Forensic Sciences at the University of New Haven. She teaches EMGT 6630 (Floodplain Management), an online course for the master's program in emergency management.
Ms. Ifkovic earned her Master of Science in Environmental Science from the University of New Haven and holds Bachelor of Arts degrees in both Biology and History from Clark University. Her academic background combines scientific knowledge with historical perspective.
Her professional expertise centers on flood management and hazard mitigation. As Connecticut's State National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) Coordinator at CTDEEP, she bridges academic theory with practical government implementation. Her work focuses on reducing flood losses through community outreach, regulatory compliance, and disaster response planning.
Ms. Ifkovic actively participates in state-level emergency management initiatives including the Long Term Recovery Task Force and Connecticut Interagency Hazard Mitigation Committee. She also serves on the board of directors for the Connecticut Association of Flood Managers (CAFM).
