Diane Edelman is the Director of International Programs and Adjunct Professor of Law at Brooklyn Law School, where she returned after a visiting directorship in 2022-2023. She earned her J.D. from Brooklyn Law School, graduating in 1983, and an A.B. in Near Eastern Studies from Princeton University.

Professor Edelman specializes in Legal Writing and International Law, with a focus on globalizing legal pedagogy and transnational legal education. Her work emphasizes cross-cultural communication, curriculum design for international contexts, and integrating international law into foundational legal skills training.
Her publications reflect a long-standing commitment to internationalizing legal writing curricula and preparing transnational lawyers. Key themes include virtual and pandemic-era legal education innovations, international moot court programs, and collaborations with arts and cultural heritage law organizations.
Edelman has held leadership roles in professional organizations, including co-chairing the American Bar Association’s International Legal Education and Specialist Certification Committee and chairing the Association of American Law Schools Section on International Engagement. She also serves on the Board of Directors of the Lawyers’ Committee for Cultural Heritage Preservation.
Previously, she directed international programs and taught Legal Writing at Villanova University’s Charles Widger School of Law for two decades. She designed summer programs in Montréal and Rome, developed the J.D./LL.M. International Studies program, and taught Advanced Appellate Advocacy and Legal Analysis & Writing for Undergraduates.
