Jennifer Arlin serves as a Visiting Assistant Professor of Legal Writing at Brooklyn Law School, where she teaches Gateway to Lawyering. She joined the faculty in 2023 after teaching at Pace University's Elisabeth Haub School of Law, where she instructed first-year legal writing and appellate advocacy courses, supervised independent research projects, and coached the National Moot Court team.
Her academic credentials include:
- J.D., The College of William & Mary, Marshall-Wythe School of Law
- M.A. in Linguistics, The University of Pennsylvania
- A.B. in German Language and Literature, Dartmouth College
Professor Arlin's research centers on the intersection of law and language, with specific focus on legislation affecting native language communication rights. Her work bridges constitutional law and linguistic analysis to examine how legal frameworks impact linguistic freedom and identity, contributing to discourse on cultural rights within judicial systems.
Prior to academia, Professor Arlin served as a Motions Law Clerk in the Second Circuit Court of Appeals and Senior Court Attorney in the New York Supreme Court, Appellate Division. Her private practice experience at Davis Polk & Wardwell and Paul, Weiss provides practical litigation insights that enrich her student mentorship in legal writing and appellate advocacy.
