Diane Cocozza Martins is a Professor at the University of Rhode Island College of Nursing, focusing on public health, community health nursing, and under-resourced populations. She serves as a Fellow in the American Academy of Nursing and co-project coordinator for an HHS-SAMHSA grant addressing opioid education in rural Rhode Island.
- Education: PhD and MA in Nursing and Medical Sociology from the University of Connecticut, MEd in Public Health & Nursing Education from Columbia University, and BS in Nursing from Salve Regina University.
Her research spans vulnerable populations, including homeless individuals' healthcare experiences, food insufficiency, and mental health in older Hispanic adults. Recent articles emphasize pediatric respite programs, HPV vaccination policies, and critical interactionism in healthcare reform. She has received the Nightingale Award and contributes to Rhode Island's nursing policy through her roles on the Board of Nurse Registration & Nursing Education and the Partnership to Reduce Cancer in Rhode Island.
