Anita Jacobson

Dr. Anita Jacobson is a Clinical Professor at the University of Rhode Island's College of Pharmacy, where she coordinates Pharmacists' Patient Care Process Laboratories and teaches in the Doctor of Pharmacy curriculum. Her academic roles are complemented by leadership positions as Program Director of the Community First Responder Program and Northeast Rural Opioid Technical Assistance Regional Center. She maintains clinical practice as a per diem pharmacist at Eleanor Slater Hospital.

Her research focuses on:

• Harm reduction and overdose prevention strategies
• Opioid antagonist distribution models
• Community-based pharmacist interventions
• Cultural competence in healthcare delivery
• Tobacco cessation programs

Dr. Jacobson's recent publications (2013-2024) predominantly address public health approaches to substance use disorders, pharmacy education reform, and cultural competency. Key themes include naloxone training effectiveness, LGBTQ+ inclusion in academia, and innovative pharmacist roles in disease prevention.
