Diane Alleva Cáceres is a Lecturer at the Scheller College of Business and also teaches in the Sam Nunn School of International Affairs at the Georgia Institute of Technology. She is affiliated with the Department of Strategy and Innovation, focusing on international business and innovation.

Dr. Alleva Cáceres specializes in international business, innovation, global value chains, science and technology policy, and economic development. Her research examines how science-based industries emerge in response to global shocks, with a focus on Canada's life sciences sector after the 2008 financial crisis. She brings extensive real-world experience from over 25 years in international trade and investment consulting.
Her work spans industries such as life sciences, fintech, agribusiness, advanced manufacturing, and digital media. She has led close to 80 foreign direct investment and trade missions across the globe, advising both corporate and governmental leaders.
Dr. Alleva Cáceres is an elected life member of the Council on Foreign Relations and serves on its Committee on the National Program. She is also a member of the Bretton Woods Committee, the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition, the International Women’s Forum, the Academy of International Business, the Industry Studies Association, and the International Studies Association.
As a practitioner-scholar, she founded and leads Market Access International, Inc., and previously served as President and CEO of the World Trade Center Atlanta. She was recently a Council on Foreign Relations International Affairs Fellow in Canada. She has held leadership roles in organizations including Georgia Tech’s European Union Center of Excellence, the Australian Trade Commission, USAID’s Center for Trade and Investment Services, the World Technology Foundation, and the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars’ Asia Program.
She is currently working on a book manuscript titled "Constructing Science-Based Industries: Global Shocks and Social Learning", which analyzes policy responses in Canadian provinces to build life sciences industries post-2008.
