Diana Mulinari is a Senior Professor and researcher in Gender Studies at Lund University, where she has been affiliated since joining the Department of Gender Studies in 1998. She holds a PhD in Sociology from Lund University and previously worked at IMER (International Migration and Ethnic Relations) at Malmö University. Her academic roles include serving as Director of the PhD Programme at her department.
Her research focuses on intersections of gender, race/ethnicity, class, and colonial legacies, with a special emphasis on Latin America and Nordic contexts. Central themes include racism, migration, social movements, and global North-South relations. Mulinari’s work critiques Swedish exceptionalism and explores antiracist and feminist praxis through Marxist and postcolonial feminist lenses.
Her publications span over 150 works, including books like Antirasismer och antirasister (2024) and articles on topics such as anti-genderism in academia, Swedish racial formations, and feminist struggles in Argentina. She has received prestigious awards like the Swedish Gender Studies Award (2018) and contributed to projects funded by the Swedish Research Council.
Mulinari actively engages in public debates on gender equality, racism, and education, and collaborates internationally on issues of social justice. Her teaching and research emphasize methodological innovation and intersectional frameworks, shaping both academic discourse and policy debates.
