Susanna Areschoug is a Lecturer at the Department of Child and Youth Studies, Stockholm University. Her research focuses on rural youth cultures, identity formation, and political subjectivities, informed by feminist post-Marxist theory and spatial analysis. She teaches in the Grundlärarprogrammet (pedagogical program for after-school care) and the Masterprogrammet i barn- och ungdomsvetenskap (Master's in Child and Youth Studies).
Her work critically examines:
- Rural youth's resistance to urban-centric stereotypes
- Gender and class dynamics in deindustrialized rural spaces
- Neoliberal educational policies' impact on marginalized communities
Current research includes a longitudinal study tracking participants from her thesis on work/career negotiations and a project on young men's sexual health funded by the Swedish Public Health Agency. She holds a Master's in Gender Studies from Uppsala University and serves on the board of Forum for Feminist Research.
