Dia Philippides is a Professor Emerita at Boston College, affiliated with the Morrissey College of Arts and Sciences and the Department of Classical Studies. She holds a Ph.D. from Princeton University and a B.A. from Radcliffe College. Her research focuses on Ancient Greek tragedy, Cretan Renaissance literature, computational analysis of literary texts, and the application of technology in education, particularly within Digital Humanities.
Her academic contributions include seminal works like The Iambic Trimeter of Euripides (1981) and EROTOKRITOS: As the Disk Turns (2013 CD-ROM). She has also contributed to collaborative projects such as the CENSUS of Modern Greek Literature, a comprehensive resource for English-language studies on modern Greek literature.
Philippides’ teaching emphasized ancient Greek language and literature, modern Greek culture, and interdisciplinary approaches. She received the 2011 TWIN award for innovative use of media in teaching. Her work bridges U.S.-Greece academic collaborations and leverages technology to advance humanities research.
