Erika L. Weiberg is an Assistant Professor of Classical Studies and Theater Studies at Duke University's Trinity College of Arts & Sciences. She holds a PhD in Classics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (2016). Her research focuses on Greek language/literature, particularly trauma representation in tragedy, gender/sexuality studies, and classical reception. She authored the 2024 book Demading Witness (Oxford UP), analyzing women’s trauma in homecoming-themed tragedies. Recent publications include studies on Sappho, Athenian homefront dynamics in tragedy, and material culture in Euripides' Helen.
Dr. Weiberg has held prestigious fellowships including the National Endowment for the Humanities (2019) and Center for Hellenic Studies (2020). She teaches courses on ancient myth, Greek drama, and language, integrating interdisciplinary approaches. Her work bridges classical texts with modern trauma theory, queer epistemology, and performance studies.
