Desislava Nesheva

Dr. Desislava Nesheva serves as a Visiting Fellow in the Department of Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Sciences at the Faculty of Science, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU Amsterdam), and is affiliated with the Amsterdam Institute of Molecular and Life Sciences (AIMMS). Her research centers on molecular pharmacology with specialized expertise in G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) and chemokine receptors.

Her research interests span pharmacology, toxicology, and pharmaceutical science, focusing on GPCR signaling mechanisms, drug discovery, and receptor pharmacology. She employs advanced techniques including luciferase complementation and radiolabeling to investigate binding kinetics, concentration-response relationships, and functional properties of receptors. This work bridges immunology, microbiology, and molecular pharmacology through receptor-targeted therapeutic development.

Recent publications demonstrate a strong trend in pharmacological characterization of chemokine receptor agonists and methodological innovations for measuring GPCR signaling kinetics and bias, reflecting cutting-edge contributions to receptor pharmacology and molecular drug discovery.

Dr. Nesheva actively contributes to AIMMS research initiatives, participating in transatlantic collaborations and symposia for early-career investigators in GPCR research.
