Derya Nuhbalaoglu is a researcher at the Department of German Philology, Georg August University of Göttingen. She holds a B.A. in Turkish Language and Literature and a certificate in linguistics from Bogazici University, Istanbul, and completed her M.A. in Linguistics there in 2010 under Dr. Markus Pöchtrager with a thesis on Turkish phonology. Currently, she works on the DFG-funded project "Discourse Referents in Space - Anaphora Resolution in German Sign Language" and finalizes her doctoral thesis comparing discourse referents in German Sign Language (DGS) and Turkish Sign Language (TID) under Prof. Markus Steinbach.
