Derk ten Berge is an Associate Professor at Erasmus MC, affiliated with the Department of Cell Biology. His research focuses on stem cell biology, molecular mechanisms in development, and cellular signaling pathways such as WNT/beta-catenin. He has contributed to studies on mRNA decay regulation, blastoid patterning for implantation modeling, and pluripotency states in embryonic development.
Key research areas include the interplay between genetic regulation and developmental processes, with a particular emphasis on how signaling pathways govern stem cell behavior and differentiation. His work spans integrative biology approaches, combining molecular techniques with in vitro models to study embryonic and stem cell biology.
Recent publications highlight contributions to understanding signal-dependent mRNA decay mechanisms, trophoblast stem cell engineering, and the role of senescence in mesenchymal stem cell expansion. He has supervised 4 academic works, contributing to training in developmental and molecular biology.
