Dr. Derek Bannasch is an Assistant Teaching Professor at Montana State University's School of Music, where he teaches applied bassoon, chamber music, and music education courses while conducting the University Band. He joined MSU in 2021 after retiring from the U.S. Army Bands, where he served as Instructor of Bassoon and earned the Army's highest teaching award. His career includes prior roles in public-school music education and extensive performance experience with symphony orchestras nationally.
