Heather Arnold is an Adjunct Professor of Bassoon at Methodist University and the University of NC at Pembroke, and an Adjunct Instructor of Bassoon at both institutions. She also teaches private bassoon lessons at Snyder Music Academy and local schools, and serves as a double-reed adjudicator for All-District Band auditions. Her performance affiliations include the Snyder Church Orchestra, the FayAllegro wind quintet, and freelance work across North Carolina.
Educationally, she holds a B.S. and B.M. from the University of Maryland at College Park, and an M.M. from the Peabody Conservatory. She completed a Graduate Performance Diploma at Peabody under Linda Harwell (National Symphony). Her orchestral experience includes second bassoon roles in the National Philharmonic and Gettysburg Symphony Orchestra.
Arnold specializes in Baroque and Contra bassoon reed-making, crafting reeds for James Kopp Reeds since 2000. She conducts master classes on reed-making for music education students and integrates this expertise into her teaching. Her career spans performance, pedagogy, and instrument craftsmanship with a focus on double-reed instruments.
