Derek A. Michaud is a Senior Lecturer and Chair of the Department of Philosophy at the University of Maine. He holds a BA in Psychology from the University of Maine (1999), an MA in Theology from Bangor Theological Seminary, and an STM in Philosophy, Theology, and Ethics, followed by a PhD in Religious Studies from Boston University. Prior to joining UMaine in 2015, he taught at Middlesex Community College and the University of Southern Maine. His expertise lies in the philosophy of religion, history of philosophy, and philosophical theology. He coordinates the Religious and Judaic Studies interdisciplinary minors and authored the book *Reason Turned into Sense: John Smith on Spiritual Sensation* (Peeters, 2017).
Michaud teaches courses on ethics, religious studies, critical thinking, and the history of philosophy, including *PHI 100 Contemporary Moral Problems*, *PHI 105 Introduction to Religious Studies*, and *PHI 310 History of Medieval and Renaissance Philosophy*. His research explores themes in spiritual theology and medieval philosophy, informed by his interdisciplinary background in psychology, theology, and religious studies.
