Jessica Miller

Jessica Miller is a Professor of Philosophy at the University of Maine, specializing in ethics, health care ethics, and health humanities. She holds a B.A. from Boston College and M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Connecticut. Her current roles include Research Fellow for Faculty Development in the Office of the Vice President for Research and coordination of the EMPOWER mentoring program. Previously, she served as department chair, associate dean, and associate provost at UMaine.

Her research focuses on clinical ethics, medical humanities, moral psychology, feminist theory, and popular culture. Notable projects include editing *Bridgerton and Philosophy* and contributing to volumes on coaching ethics. She frequently engages with media on ethical issues such as vaccinations, abortion, and pandemic response, with features in *Maine Public*, *Portland Press Herald*, and *Bangor Daily News*.

Miller’s work bridges academic philosophy and real-world applications, advising healthcare systems, governments, and professional associations. Her clinical ethics expertise includes rural healthcare challenges and end-of-life care. She also serves as an academic coach, emphasizing career development for faculty and students.
