Dennis Balk

Dennis Balk is an Adjunct Professor in the Communication Arts department at VCUarts (Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts). He previously served as Chairperson of the Computer Graphics/Multimedia Department and Director of the BUI Media Lab at Bangkok University International College (2009–2018), and as Coordinator of the Fine Arts/Computer Graphics Department at NYIT Bahrain Campus. His professional background includes advertising design roles at agencies like McCann Erickson in New York during the 1990s and 2000s.

As a visual artist, Balk’s practice spans gallery/museum work, digital printing, painting, sculpture, theater installations, and audience participation projects. His work has been internationally exhibited and reviewed, with representation by American Fine Arts Gallery in New York. In 2019, he was a Visual Artist Resident at the Pernice Artist Residency in Palermo, Sicily. Currently, he designs for the fashion collective Splinter Group while maintaining academic roles.
