Dr. Denise Pickett-Bernard serves as an Associate Professor in the Nutrition Department at Life University (Life U) in Roswell, Georgia. Originally from outside Boston, Massachusetts, she brings extensive experience shaped by two decades in south Florida before relocating to Georgia with her family. Her academic journey includes a degree in Human Nutrition and Food Science from the University of Rhode Island, an internship at Brown University Teaching Hospitals, and a Ph.D. in Leadership from Barre University.
Her research interests center on culinary nutrition, holistic health approaches, and integrative nutrition, with particular focus on the healing properties of diverse cultural cuisines. She has developed innovative programs that merge culinary arts with nutrition science, emphasizing the importance of understanding different cultural approaches to food and health. Her doctoral work explored factors influencing weight control maintenance, investigating connections between spirituality, willpower, and nutritional health.
Dr. Pickett-Bernard actively participates in the Nutrition Club and contributes to the Life U garden, utilizing fresh campus produce to demonstrate the integration of theory with practice.
