Denise Acevedo

Dr. Denise Acevedo is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Writing, Rhetoric, and Cultures at Michigan State University (MSU), within the College of Arts and Letters. She holds an Ed.D. in Higher Education Leadership and an M.Ed. in Adult Education, alongside a B.A. from MSU. With nearly 30 years of experience in K-12 and higher education, her work focuses on student writing development, faculty mentorship, and supporting marginalized students through transformative rhetoric.

• Research Interests: Marginalized Students, Motivational Rhetoric, Faculty Development, and Curriculum Design. Her longitudinal writing project fosters faculty self-reflection and collaboration.
• Affiliations: Co-coordinator of the Faculty Symposium: Lightning Strikes, designer of Transforming Teaching Through Reflective Writing Experiences (TTTWRE), and member of the WRAC RPT Committee, OER Advisory Council, Academic Advancement Network, and University Undergraduate Research and Arts Forum.
