Dr. Rosa Maria Acevedo is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Educational Foundations, Organizations, and Policy at the University of Pittsburgh’s School of Education. She holds a PhD from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, and teaches courses in higher education and student affairs, coordinating the Higher Education EdD Major. Her research focuses on marginalized students’ international experiences, equity in education policy, and mobility justice.

Research Interests: Dr. Acevedo examines how intersectionally marginalized students navigate study abroad programs and the systemic barriers they face. Her work critiques policies that perpetuate inequity, advocating for free college initiatives and equitable access. She uses qualitative methods to explore identity formation, temporal awakenings, and subversive effects of global education.
Recent Publications: Her 2024 works include studies on mobility justice, free college program accessibility, and identity narratives among study abroad students. Key journals include Time & Society, The Journal of Higher Education, and International Journal of Qualitative Studies in Education.

Advising & Service: She coordinates the Higher Education EdD program and serves as a peer reviewer for major journals.
