Denis Dennehy is a Professor of Information Systems & Sustainability at the School of Management, Swansea University, and serves as the School Research Lead and Director of the Digital Futures for Sustainable Business & Society research group. His research focuses on the role of information systems and analytics in transforming organizations and society, with emphasis on sustainability, AI, and supply chain resilience. He holds a PhD from University College Cork and has been recognized with awards such as the 2024 Outstanding Research Supervision Award and the 2023 AIS Sandra Slaughter Service Award.
His educational background includes degrees in Information Systems from University College Cork, and he is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a Senior Member of IEEE. Research collaborations include work with Intel, Dell Technologies, and NGOs, funded by UKRI and other institutions. Key areas of expertise include AI and big data analytics, project management methodologies, and research methodologies in qualitative and design science.
Dennehy's research interests span emerging technologies for societal value, sustainable development through data analytics, and supply chain innovation. His work has been published in top journals like Information & Management and International Journal of Production Research. He co-edits Communications of the Association for Information Systems and has led international conferences such as IEEE ISTAS23.
His teaching includes modules on managing in the digital age and project management, emphasizing digital transformation and strategic business value. Dennehy actively supervises PhD students exploring topics like corporate digital responsibility and AI in supply chains, and he collaborates on grants addressing global development challenges.
Notable awards include the 2021 Teaching Hero Award for innovative teaching and the Dean's Award for Inclusive Teaching (2019). His research group, Digital Futures, drives interdisciplinary projects on sustainable business practices and societal impact.
