Delivette Castor

Delivette Castor, PhD, is an Assistant Professor of Medical Sciences at Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC), holding joint appointments in the Department of Medicine and the Department of Epidemiology. Her research focuses on implementing public health innovations at scale, particularly examining biomedical, behavioral, and structural factors affecting infectious diseases in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) and marginalized populations in the United States.

Dr. Castor's work integrates implementation science, HIV prevention, and health equity. Her research spans women's reproductive health, cervical cancer among HIV-positive populations, mental health, nutrition, and emerging infections like SARS-CoV-2.

Her recent publications emphasize cost-effectiveness modeling of HIV interventions, structural determinants of health disparities, and scalable prevention strategies. Notable projects include optimizing age-targeted voluntary medical male circumcision programs and evaluating HIV self-testing acceptability in Senegal.

At CUIMC, Dr. Castor leads research on automated cervical cancer screening technologies for HIV-positive women. Previously, she held senior epidemiology roles at USAID and the U.S. Department of State, where she directed implementation science activities for PEPFAR, including large-scale HIV intervention design and novel prevention technology scale-up.
