Dr. Deepika Mathur is a Senior Research Fellow at the Northern Institute within Charles Darwin University's Faculty of Arts and Society, based at the Alice Springs campus. Her research examines sustainable development in regional, remote, and very remote Australian communities through improved waste management systems.
Education:
PhD from University of Melbourne (2008) with thesis titled 'Interpreting sustainability: examining the social approach to environmentally sustainable architecture in India'.
Research Focus:
Primary interests center on minimizing construction waste generation and recycling solutions for remote communities, waste management from solar energy systems, and implementing circular economy principles in regional Australia. Her work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals through multi-stakeholder projects funded by Commonwealth and Northern Territory governments.
Publication Trends:
Recent works (2022-2025) demonstrate strong focus on sustainable waste solutions for remote communities, circular economy implementation challenges, public perceptions of renewable energy projects, and technological applications (IoT/ML) in environmental monitoring.
