Professor Debra Kiegaldie is an accomplished academic and registered nurse at Monash University, leading Interprofessional Education & Simulation within the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing & Health Sciences since 2024. Previously, she held roles at Holmesglen Institute, Monash Health, and Healthscope Hospitals. Her work focuses on simulation-based education, interprofessional learning, falls prevention, delirium management, and virtual reality applications in healthcare. She has secured significant grants, including an NH&MRC partnership grant on hospital falls and Victorian Government initiatives for COIL programs and skills labs.
Education: PhD in Health Professions Education (Monash University, 2015); Masters in Nursing Education (Monash University, 2001); Bachelor of Educational Studies (Monash University, 1995); Certificates in Intensive Care Nursing, Infectious Diseases Nursing, and General Nursing.
Research Interests: Interprofessional collaboration, simulation methodologies, falls prevention strategies, and virtual reality in healthcare training. Key projects include global COIL partnerships and AI-driven cultural competence training.
Awards: Recognized for contributions to medical education and simulation, including national/international accolades and leadership in the Victorian Simulation Alliance.
